Absent Friends
I had thought I wouldn’t be doing any more plays this year, and that my next appearance on stage would be Panto next January.
And then I got a message saying that someone I’d worked with in Lancaster Footlights was trying to get in touch with me to see if I was interested in taking a part in a play she was directing for Grange Amateurs. And was I available on the show dates.
Long story short, yes I was interested and the dates worked - just. Tonight was the read through, and a chance for me to meet my fellow actors and see the script for the first time. Yes, I did take the part without even reading the script. It was an Alan Ayckbourn (albeit not one I’m familiar with) and I was playing the part originally done by Peter Bowles. That was all I needed to know.
It sounded pretty good as we ran through it, so I’m looking forward to starting rehearsals proper and seeing how the characters develop as we become more comfortable with them.
That’s my life sorted for the next few months then…
