Not raining but pouring
A dry early morning dog walk.
Shenanigans began at 8.30. Email from our solicitor. Could we exchange contracts and move on 31 July buyer requests? Mr & I thought we'd been clear yesterday that we could not, but rang our removal company to double check. They even checked with another company's availability and confirmed it's not possible to move us on 31 July.
Back to our solicitor with alternative dates suggested yesterday in August.
Our buyer still fixated with 31 July expecting a removal company to be available in 3 working days to move all our belongings. Even suggested 2 and 4 August instead of days we suggested, 14 and 22 August.
Later discovered bottom of chain which we were informed were cash buyers are actually relying on a mortgage and their mortgage offer expires 5 August and they'll have to apply for extension hence request to move in early August.
Mr sends email to estate agent explaining we've been ready, waiting and accommodating, offering several dates already. Estate agent says yes but can we do 4 August?
Mr fires back email: No! We cannot do 4 August. Message finally understood. I'm amazed either estate agent or solicitor don't advise bottom of chain to apply for mortgage extension if they don't consider the idea themselves.
It's been emails in this vein all day. Our solicitor is fed up with our buyer as are we. She's inflexible and wants it her way - only. Not an option with 4 links in the chain not to mention removal companies.
Thank goodness I had a delightful, enriching, enjoyable coffee catch-up this morning at a nearby cafe with my friend Jane. I may have mentioned before Jane and I met at a creative writing course run by a local writer. We clicked immediately and have been friends since the mid 90s. Like my friend Anna we have books and reading in common as well as our left wing political views.
I got caught in a downpour going and returning home. The cycle lane with adjacent bus lane guarantees a drenching from fast flowing large vehicles.
We breathe a sigh of relief when 5pm comes round, the end of a working day and no phone calls and emails will arrive.
Both Mr and I this past week wake each morning wondering what $#!+ will we have to deal with today. Hoping tomorrow will be different and common sense will prevail.
Now going to watch episode 2 of Mixtape on BBC iplayer.
Pleasant evening everyone.
