Textile Art

This evening I went to a ‘Kingston Stitchers’ talk given by textile artist Jane McKeating. She was for 30:years director of Embroidery at Manchester School of Art but since retirement has created many and varied artworks using a combination of drawings, paint and hand embroidery. A very interesting talk about the inspiration for her works many of which were very personal . The main photo is a typical piece and the extra shows work on handkerchiefs she rescued when clearing out her parents house.  I have not been to this group before but I’ll probably go again to talks and workshops as it is near, in Surbiton and easy to park! I was surprised to hear they have 100 members.

Did three hours in the garden this morning cutting back lots of ivy on a fence…..not too much as I think it’s holding up the fence..and repotting some plants.
