Garden
It's been a bit of a day of tasks, starting with fettling my old hairdryer again, since it has a tendency to ingest hairs that gradually jam up the works. Next on the list was into the garden, because the sun was out, to mend a puncture that mysteriously occurred to my Brompton's front wheel the day after I was in Glasgow.
The main task was to fire up the strimmer (well, Dad's strimmer) and hack down the foot-long grass and clear away the pile of decaying Berberis that I pruned when my ribs were still hurting in January. The wood lice had been having a ball underneath it all. By lunchtime my arms were too tingly and twitchy to carry on, so lunch was had, and I could have gone to sleep. After thinking about the prospect, I went back into the garden to finish the job. This Large White butterfly, a female I think, spent a long time on the rose bush, long enough for me to get the big lens out. You can even see it has bright green eyes. Back to strimming, and by the end I'd nearly filled a dumpy bag that will need to go to the tip.
After a hot shower it was time for half a pizza and a Saturday edition of Friday Film Night, with the Bruce Willis film The Fifth Element. It's basically Die Hard meets Indiana Jones in the 23rd century and is quite good fun.
