Rescued....

..from the Unfinished Projects bin.

It was in there because years ago, by the time I finished the shawl itself, I had run out of yarn and had none left for the decorative edging. I had a companion silk yarn in the same colourway, and wondered if it would work. Not being able to decide, I stashed the whole project until I felt more creative and patient enough to experiment. With all this heat outside, and all this time spent indoors, the time had come. I needed something other than books to keep me productively occupied. The edging I am now trying to create is a ruffle and I won't know if it works until I finish and release all those stitches from the needles. All that knitting and it may not work? Why do I do this to myself?

On the garden front, Shawn showed up this morning armed with yet another hydrangea! A white one of course. I used to have a hosta garden; now I have a hydrangea garden! This makes seven out front ( extra) and I am afraid to count the ones out back! He had also brought his mower to do what he could with the scorched grass. He reassures me that eventually it will come back - all  it needs is a few heavy rains...which we have not had and which are not in the long-range forecast!  A  quick cutting did help, but ... geez, it looks pretty awful .

I started another donation bag for the thrift store and I also finished my book, so I felt OK taking some unproductive time this evening to watch the very long Hunter Biden interview. His openness and honesty were refreshing; in particular, the description of and insight into his addiction problem was worth the time spent. I can't always say that about the TV I watch!
