Telling the time

My appointment in the musculoskeletal department at Hexham General was at 1230 and the therapist was on time. He was a Spaniard who has specialised in joints, but I could not find out his actual status.

The water bottle was on his desk.

Suffice it to say the he knew his stuff and was very thorough before injecting the arthritic joint at the base of my thumb. If this does not work, they will consider removing the trapezoid bone. Gulp!

I have to rest, use ice and painkillers and avoid repetitive movements for two weeks. Hmm. I was planning to start knitting tonight!

Joan transported me and then took me to Corbridge to the osteopath to review my neck. It’s much better and I showed Natalie my swollen left knee (Aggie).

The news here was not good. There is still a lot of fluid and parts of the quads have already wasted as a result.

She asked me to self refer to the musculoskeletal service immediately. In my mind, I just see the possibility of a knee replacement. I know I am catastrophising but I’ve been here before.

I came home to apply ice to both offending joints and lick my wounds.

Margret’s sons arrived today, ready to empty her house. One came in a horsebox and the other will hire a van later in the week. A grandson and partner are due to arrive too. It’s all go.

The injection guy is very serious about his fluid intake since a renal infection. You can see that he keeps to time!
