Marjorie's ramblings

Three old friends

I woke at 0630 and allowed myself to return to my slumbers. It was a mistake because I entered into one of those longwinded nightmares where I was cleaning out a hall and not getting enough help from the others in the group.

I woke hot and disheveled and glad to be awake!

I was still feeling unhappy about the way arthritis seems to have suddenly accelerated, but Brian phoned to say that the walking group would be coming to Humshaugh in the afternoon to have post walk drinks and would I like to join them.

That really cheered me.

I called to see Mark and Kevin. They had good news from the auctioneers. Their firm will take the goods deemed suitable for auction, then sell anything saleable, distribute other things to charity shops and clear the house with everything else going to the tip. This is a big job taken from the family.

I drove to Hexham and treated myself to good food at Aldi. I also bought flowers for myself!

At lunchtime, I was eating corn on the cob when my left temperomandibular joint cracked loudly and I could not bring my teeth properly together. I’ve had this, much worse, some years ago and I was on a liquid diet until the fluid in the joint dissipated.

The ice pack went on my knee and my jaw!

My wrist is doing fine with minimal discomfort.

I called to see Margret who was at her old house this afternoon.

Then I walked slowly to the pub and was ready and waiting when the walkers arrived. There had been 26 of them in a lovely day for weather.

Not long after they arrived, Audrey discovered a tick on her arm. Ann had some splendid, fine tweezers and I was called upon to do the procedure. I managed to remove the tick with its mouth parts intact. Hooray.

Henry recommended a film called Godland about a 19th century priest travelling from Denmark to Iceland to build a church. I have started to watch it. The Icelandic scenery is magnificent but very gloomy, like the film. I had to stop!

My blip is of three walkers who are not usually at the intermediate walks. BJ comes when she is here from America. Alistair and Cathy are really long walkers. I was so pleased to see them.

I did take some straightforward shots, but liked this best.
