The Photo Soc has an ongoing collaboration with our local Wildlife Trust, and today the Trust needed some images to be captured at a summer holiday activity session in Grenoside Woods. So I spent a happy couple of hours up there, with a small group led by one of the Trust's staff.  This was a group of young carers, having a respite day; they were all school-aged kids.  There were walks and chats, plant and insect ID discussions, pond-dipping, miniature raft-building, fire-lighting...
Photos of identifiable children are strictly for the Trust's own publicity use (and they get parent/carer consent for that first). So today's image is just a close-up of one of the many nice moments in a very well-run session: learning to use a little flint fire starter.
Naturally this ended with toasted marshmallows... and a very careful and thorough extinguishing of each small fire, within its billy can.
