Over the River

A walk across the River Thames to Battersea was the only highlight of my day. I barely remember it as a working power station from my first visits to London. Now it’s like a city in itself - new, shiny and more than a little too upmarket for my taste, but still a very impressive building. The main blip shows a view of the river from there, with more impressions from the inside, outside and surroundings in the extra.

P woke up this morning feeling much worse than yesterday; not just with back pains, but feverish, wobbly and weak. He couldn’t even get up for most of the day, and his hands are still shaking so much that he can hardly drink without help. He must have caught a virus - just in time for his big birthday tomorrow, and our first mini-holiday together in 6 years.

I went shopping for things like orange juice and medicine, feeling sorry for both of us. We‘ve been planning this week for months, booking tables at restaurants and researching places we were going to visit, but I don’t think that he will be able to do any of it. And I am hoping against hope that I‘m not going to get ill with the same flu or covid virus too, at least not while we are both still in London and need to fly (and drive) back home…
