L'heure de l'apéro

The heatwave is back. We both went swimming this morning, and then I went into Lézignan to do a big shop. Supplies were getting scarce since we haven't left the village for four days. I noted that Fabrezan is now empty of fire engines, a sign that at least at this end of the fire things are under control.

It was so hot in the afternoon after our late lunch that we stayed indoors with the shutters closed. So for a change of scene we went up to the restaurant in the early evening for an apero and a couple of tapas. It was still very warm, but at least there was a bit of a breeze. Here's my Pardi (blanquette de Limoux and Kina-Karo). We couldn't afford to have more than one drink each and two tapas to share, so after that we went home and had a glass of rosé and some cheese. Dinner sorted.

Meanwhile on Facebook, endless photos and videos of the devastation. Jonquières, for example, has 46 inhabitants and 20 houses, of which seven have been destroyed. The cooperative in St Laurent has lost 80% of its vines. And so on ...
