Almost friends ?
A Life in the Day of a Photographer – Sunday Happy
Sunday happy.
That moment when you wake up and remember it’s Sunday — no deadlines, no must-do list, no rush. Just Sunday.
Saturday night had been one of those long, warm evenings you hope summer will always bring. We were at a friend’s house for dinner, sitting outside until late, the heatwave wrapping us like a blanket. Conversation, laughter, the kind of easy company you never want to leave.
So Sunday began a little slowly. At 11 a.m., I met with a painter who’s going to transform a few walls for me. Afterwards, coffee with two dear friends — she’s Italian, he’s French, he’s a musician. Our conversation drifted between living abroad, the little cultural quirks that shape us, and all those threads of experience that tie people together and make friendships feel so unique.
Back home, we had lunch with Olivier: smoked salmon, boiled eggs, dark rye bread, and homemade jam. Simple, perfect. Then came our DIY afternoon — I was painting walls, getting everything ready for the staircase to arrive, while Olivier worked on wiring lights into the main board. We flipped the switch, nothing happened… so, clearly, that mystery will be for another day.
But the real headline of the day? Lox, our cat, and Ziggy, the new kitten, are almost friends. Lox won’t admit it, of course. When they play and she realises we’re watching, she does her best “I wasn’t! I don’t even like him!” act. But we’ve got the photographs to prove otherwise.
