Highland Gathering

Great excitement in Tain today, because our friend JU (local historian extraordinaire and curator of the town museum), whose wife L is one of the Shandwick swimmers, was appointed (or possibly elected) the Chieftain for the 2025 Highland Gathering. That meant he got to process through the town this morning before heading down to the Glenmorangie Field where the main part of the Gathering takes place. This was the only bit of the celebration I was able to see, as I had to rush off before 2pm to get a train to Edinburgh.

But by that time I'd already had a packed programme. A great swim (see extra), although A and I made it a short one as we both wanted to get back to see the pipe band and the procession which was due to start at 11am. Then rushing to get showered and dressed in time.

After a quick lunch, it was down to the station, and the journey to Edinburgh was very smooth. I picked up some stuff to eat at M&S Simply Food in Haymarket and came home on an inevitably busy tram. The city is very, very busy indeed. I didn't manage to do my blip, because by the time I had eaten and sogged in my chair for a while, I was fading badly.
