Broken

Had a pretty decent sleep but still felt a bit merry when I woke up. A few cups of tea were required.

There were only a few in the office this morning and I was just tidying things up, like sending my farewell emails and a LinkedIn post, you can see here.

My young padawan was feeling a bit worse for wear so had a lie in. We went to get a coffee and some food for her.

I said a few more goodbyes.

Went for a walk at lunch with my young padawan. We joked, we didn't talk about my last day.

And then the end, I handed over my laptop, door key and pass. 10 years came to an end.

My young padawan walked with me and came on the tube all the way to Paddington with me. We had an emotional cwtch at the station. We didn't say any words, we know. 

It breaks my heart knowing that I won't have those daily chats, walks and fun with her anymore. I cherished every moment and I know she did as well. I'm proud of this amazing young woman she has become and all of her wonderful achievements.

There have been floods of tears today. I know I will start work on Monday and I know I will continue to get through each day, but what I leave behind in my young padawan was special. Having that person you just connect and bounce off in work is a rare thing. 

People think my tears are about the job, they don't understand, it is the people.

This is one of my presents, a compass, a north star that gives me direction and purpose. The engraving on the back said "For the journey you've led and the legacy you leave"
