Feeling blue

Lynne and I did a hive inspection today and found something unexpected.  

There were a lot of cells filled with something sludgy blue/black.  Google suggested that it was or debris or faeces, but that didn't seem right.  I immediately catastrophised that it was some lurgy taking over the hive and would require elimination of all the bees before it spread.  Cue the online support groups who have told me it's...

pollen!

Perfectly natural and can be collected from several sorts of flowers, I suspect borage, less than a mile away.  Who knew pollen isn't always  yellow!?

Phew.
