A view from Jeanneb

Mr Darcy!

To be honest when I saw it from behind I thought it would have been Mr Brunel sitting above his bridge across the Avon Gorge but no, Wallace is pretending to be Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen is every where.

We were in Bristol again today to return some ballet shoes for Grace to a dance shop in Cotham. We drove down Filton /Gloucester Road where Grace and John used to live and miraculously managed to park opposite the Tinto Lounge to pop in for a nostalgic coffee.

Less luck parking after returning the shoes in nearby Clifton but we did eventually find a pay and display slot, most parking is understandably permit holders only in this exclusive area of Bristol.  This was another wander round memory lane as G & J’s first flat in the city was in this area.
Walked up to the observatory to look over the famous Clifton Suspension bridge and the Avon Gorge and then down to the White Lion for a drink and view of the bridge from below. We’ve been to both of these venues for the Bristol Balloon festival in years gone by and on both occasions sadly the balloons didn't fly as it was too windy! I believe it all went well this year at the beginning of the month.

A pleasant wander around the village before returning to Bath. Cooler today, the first time I’ve worn a cardigan in more than a week down here. If you look at the lower picture you can see how brown the grass is behind Mr Darcy, in fact it’s almost completely bare. This, together with browning leaves which are starting to fall, have made today feel a bit autumnal.

Elsewhere the family have taken the ferry from Skye across to Harris. The stunning view from their tent can be seen in the extra. I’m so jealous!
And they’re in!
