Crookneck squash at Wisley

This morning I took a friend to RHS Wisley and we had a nice walk around most of the gardens.
This is in the vegetable garden on Hillside. I don’t think I went there last summer and was amazed to see how big the various climbing plants are and what a good crop they all have…….very different from what has happened in many peoples gardens or allotments with less water!
The extra shows a Bitter gourd, about 6 inches long,  grown in a greenhouse…I have not seen one of those growing before ..native to tropical and sub tropical Asia and Africa.

The tropical garden also had some amazing plants which have grown so big on just a few months, this area always looks so desolate in the winter .

Interesting to see so many bulbs for sale already in the shop…I must think about what to buy…

Later I went to the allotment and picked more beans and one cucumber. Still ,lots of watering needed there.
