Sixtastic
I met my former Head of H&S for breakfast. I bumped into two of my former colleagues in the park while I waited. Today was going to be a big meeting where a restructure was to be announced.
My Head of H&S is down, I think he will be gone before the end of the year. It's a shame, he is the best H&S professional I've come across in the whole of my career. I thanked him for reaching out yesterday, I told him that this week had been hard.
I was at a loss as to what to do after we parted ways, I headed to Picaddilly Circus and had a wander around a big bookshop. I bought quite a few books.
Headed back to the hotel, but briefly stopped to pick up some lunch at a French boulangerie. It was a delicious baguette.
I then headed to south of the river and the Oval cricket ground. I was meeting my young padawan and our bid director for an afternoon/evening of cricket, the Hundred.
I arrived in plenty of time so had some time on my own before they arrived. The women's game between the Oval Invincibles v Trent Rockets was first and it was a good game.
I got the update on the big meeting and it was a complete car crash. A shambolic meeting that has caused more questions than it provided answers. I've told my young padawan that she has to get out, this business is not stable and it will bring her down.
The men's game was a cracker, although it didn't look like it would be for quite a long time. The Trent Rockets through Joe Root set a good target and the Invincibles were way behind on the count before Sam Curran went crazy and started blasting sixes all over the place. The Invincibles won an incredible game. Although we headed to the tube before it was over, as some of them had trains to catch and didn't want to be caught in the crowd.
I said goodbye to my young padawan again. I won't see her now until the Last Night of the Proms.
I was sad going back to the hotel.
Today I am thankful for:
1. A catch up with my former Head of H&S
2. Book purchases
3. A good evening of cricket with my young padawan and bid director and his team
