Look Out

Remembering

It would have been J’s birthday today. Every year from 1997 we travelled down to Christchurch to visit her mum around this time, so today that’s where I went. I lit a candle in the Priory church, then caught a boat from Town Quay to Mudeford Beach. From there I walked over Hengistbury Head, visiting the place I scattered some of her ashes last year, then walked on to Wick Ferry and back into town.

The heather is in flower on Hengistbury Head, and on a lovely day like today the views all around are wonderful. In the main image I am looking toward Old Harry Rocks, Studland and the Isle of Purbeck. In the extra, the Priory on my return: the bells started ringing soon after I took the shot, celebrating a young couple just married.
