The accidental finding

Our furry friend

Here’s Indie, who’s just jumped off my hip . Steve asked me the other day how long we’d had her. I think it’s three and a half years, since January 2022. We were allowed to go to Wales to collect her, which felt very daring at the time. A week later we both got CoVid (not because of going there) and she kept us company during the enforced rest period. She is eight now.

I’ve been out to work, and then for a drink with a friend, and then to a second birthday meal for a lad who is thirty today. I’ve eaten too much, although well, and am contemplating a little light reading before sleeping.

As usual, I got the difficult phone call just as I was about to leave work. Many people are genuinely hungry at the moment and, as my friend pointed out, it’s going to get worse as food prices rise. Many crops have failed and there isn’t enough hay for animals to feed on in winter because of the drought. As my friend K pointed out, this is climate emergency in action.
