We are poised for a
holiday long weekend so
there's activities

I had the bins out to the street and was on my way to McArthur Island Park by 6:30. We're at the start of our Labour Day weekend with school commencing on Tuesday.

Wildlife was in short supply this morning. Only one marmot offered me a portrait. Lots of city workers were already in action grooming the fields and performing other activities that make us the "Tournament Capital".

I got a shot of the slough which looks more like a stagnant pond now that the water level has dropped. No water is coming in from the river so it will continue to dry up.

I had a quick look at the gazebo in the Xeriscape Garden and caught my mountains as I looked across the playing fields.

Along the untended margin of the park the milkweed is bursting its seed pods. Although it can be toxic to humans, it provides food and shelter to Monarch butterflies and other species.

I headed for home, happy to be out of the morning rush. I have some errands to run this morning, but I'm looking forward to a quiet day.
