A bit of forest
fire smoke hangs in the air to
haze our morning sky

I was out the door at 6:30 on my way to Shuswap Road, a route that parallels the South Thompson River. The sun was just appearing to the north side of my mountains.

I stopped for a view looking east along the river catching the Wanda Sue anchored on the south shore. She's a replica paddlewheeler that provided some great tours in the recent past.

My great delight and surprise was finding a small herd of big horn sheep by the road. Most were down in a farmer's field shoulder deep in greens to enjoy. I stopped and watched them move from the field to the silt bluffs on the north side of the road. They were very calm and quiet, quite undisturbed by the attention they were getting. The group I usually photograph near Tranquille and this group have a river between them, so I doubt if they know each other.

I drove as far as the spot where I can see the Pritchard Bridge. Today, a fisherman filled the foreground. I found an eagle on the usual perch but when I headed back I found two.

I stopped for a photo of the rail fence along the road and a large view of the silt bluffs to the north side of the road. All looks a little tinted with the sun so low and air quality a bit poor.

I came home with my breakfast and no particular plans but to put my feet up and have a quiet day.
