Clouded yellow

I know it's a pretty disastrous photo, but it's a butterfly to be celebrated.  A clouded yellow, in the kitchen this morning.  Really difficult to get photos, as she was on the window behind the sink.  The camera seemed to have difficulty focussing on her.  After grabbing a few photos, I let her out of the window.

I'd never seen one before, though W tells me he let either this one or her sister out of the same window yesterday!  This last few weeks have seen a huge influx of butterflies in our garden, including good numbers of painted ladies.  And I've seen several blips of clouded yellows being seen further north than usual.

After that excitement, W went to gardening club.  He got bitten/stung on the face almost immediately and has swelling, itching and inflammation beside his eye, which has made his afternoon distinctly unhappy.

I had a session on the static cycle.  And in the afternoon I sewed.
