Gone to Seed

Happens to us all eventually!

Another quiet day.   Just what I need.   Late start, a walk with Meg, some work on the bulb repotting.   Work at 4, the last Sunset Special of the summer.   Feels autumnal today and with the exodus of summer holidaymakers it was a light load that came up to Aber tonight, half of them known to me through their involvement in the railway.  A gentle end to summer, a more mellow autumn awaits.

There were lots of ripe seeds on Pelargonium aridum in the greenhouse today.  There's one seed attached to the feathery spiral which both separates the seed from the plant as it curls and acts as a sail to carry it away on the wind.   A tiny wonder of nature.
