Slip chicken
Oh! I wish I could blip a shot of the amazing light on the landscape on the latter stages of our journey to Cockermouth today. Heavy shower clouds along the A1 gave spectacular cloudscapes.
Early evening light on the A66 across the Pennines and between Penrith and Keswick was mesmerising. Crepuscular rays over Blencathra - but nowhere to stop. By the time we were passing over Whinlatter the sun had gone off Skiddaw and on the other side the Vale of Lorton was in shadow. My, what sights!
Instead meet Slip Chicken. I hedged my bets this morning in case I wasn’t successful on the journey. A good plan. Slip Chicken is the only piece of my CSE Art work that didn’t go to the tip on Saturday. Created from clay slip and glaze most people in the class did something similar.
On the back I wrote P Noakes 5G1 which means it was made in 1969 or 70 so its at least 55 years old. Somewhere I have a similar sized wood carving of a chicken. As I say chickens were popular subjects amongst us boys.
It’s wonderful to be back. Slow going to escape the furred arteries of Kent. A 30 minute jam to get through the tunnel (a parting gift) and a couple of roadworks further north otherwise it wasn’t too bad.
