Over the border

We decided to pop over the border to Switzerland for lunch today in a small village called Gandria. It is the first village in Switzerland on the road coming from the middle of Lake Como and Menaggio.

Gandria is a charming little village on Lake Lugano, no doubt a former fishing village, and it maybe indulged in a bit of smuggling as well as there is a Customs Museum just over on the other side of the lake.

A pleasant lunch in a restaurant in the village and then on to Lugano in the afternoon. The photograph shows one of the main streets in Gandria. The village is built on a steep hill leading down to the lake, the residents must be as fit as mountain goats.
