Our Great North Run

Success!

We conquered the BUPA Great North Run 2013. We're are truly exhilarated & exhausted from this wonderful achievement.

I was proud to represent & run for Marie Curie Cancer Care, a dedicated & caring cause. And with the support of my kind & caring friends & family, I am honoured to have raised 121% of my fundraising pledge - that's £426.34. Jenny ran & raised money for the wonderful charity Breast Cancer Care, reaching a staggering 131% of her fundraising pledge - an amazing £460. We are thrilled & so very thankful for the overwhelming support.

We want to top off our adventure on an almighty & unquestionable high, & our final Great North Run aim is to raise a nice round thou in our post-GNR celebrations. Can it be done?!.. you know it can!

We completed our first half marathon in 2:35 (h/m) & we're immensely pleased. Although we didn't quite match Mo or Haile for pace, or glimpse Jo Whiley (darn it!) or the 93 legend running his buzzilienth race, we're quite happy, not to mention achy. We're so thankful too to Ma & Pa C & Jen's sister & husband, Emily & Dan for braving the crowds, weather & traffic to cheer us on along the South Shields Coast. The red arrows helped in the last mile a bit too - I realised today how super cool they are! They pull off some incredible stunts. Breath-taking, which isn't ideal when running.

Perhaps a week off, & then preparations for the GNR 2014 will begin in earnest...??
