Cyclamen explosion

I am working currently with flower abstracts to see what works and what doesn't. Today's offering is a beautiful pinkish-purplish cyclamen, taken against the light so the petals have a translucent quality. At its core are the unfurling new blooms and leaves sprouting from growing points on the top of the tuber.

Each leaf grows on its own stem. Leaf stems can be distinguished from flower stems by the direction their tips curl: tips of leaf stems curl upwards, while tips of flower stems curl downwards. The eagle eyed will see that this is reversed in this picture because of the effect of the polar coordinates filter - polar to rectangular. I also adjusted the curves to ensure the leaf shapes are not lost in the darker centre. I cropped to a square format as this seemed to suit this composition.
