Life, not as we see it.

Mestre to Innsbruck, by the back road.

Superb drive through the Dolomite mountains, to Innsbruck via Cortina. I didn't realise how far north Italy were. Interesting how the landscape changed, becoming progressively more alpine. Wonderful scenery.
SatNav had it's usual wee joke. See top right snap of it's recommended route from Cortina ! !
Great hotel, that's the view from our window at top left, almost sunset.
Drove into the centre of Innsbruck this evening to dine. Timed it well as one of the underground carparks had just shifted from exorbitant day rate to mildly expensive night rate. Went for a Chinese, as you do when unsure of what the local scram is like. Great decision, but, on returning to the carpark (can you see this coming?), it was closed. Not the barriers, the bloody great shutters. The phone number on the ticket was a Vienna one, so not much help. Taxi back, and bus back into town in the morning. I feel an instructive message developing as the operator's website says it is open 'till midnight.
North to Koblenz, on the Rhine.
Goodnight.
