An ordinary life....

Wot, no Bales?!

Gorgeous day here today. Blue skies and sunshine. If only all autumn days could be like this.

Perfect day to make a quick stop on the way home from Alan's school review / transition meeting at the field I've been desperate to get into, to get some close up shots of the hay bales. And stop we did. Only the bales have been gathered. Damn.

Never mind, even that couldn't dampen my mood after the long but very positive meeting we had at the school. We got a surprise at the beginning of the meeting as Alan's teacher turned up with Alan and Alan started off the meeting by showing us a slideshow of all the things he's been doing at school over the past year. He was grinning and laughing and being very charming. Not bad for a boy who supposedly hates being the centre of attention!

After the presentation he was given the option of staying for the rest of it but chose to return to the class instead to carry on with the home baking. Wise boy.

So, after being a bit apprehensive about the meeting and what the future holds post school, our minds have been put at rest. I was worried Alan would be offered some Micky Mouse college course that only served to keep him off the streets bit no, they are much more creative than that.

Various options talked about that give Alan lots of control over activities and who he wants to spend time with, with college in there somewhere but only if it's something Alan's genuinely interested in and probably only for a couple of days a week.

Lots of referrals to be made to adult services in the hope that NHS professionals such as physios and Speech and Language therapists will continue to be involved but I know those services are very scarce so we will see how that goes. Another meeting is planned for November to assess how everything is going and to make sure everyone has actioned their action points. So impressed with the school and how they are handling it all.

Stopped and treated ourselves to lunch out on the way home, which was a pleasant surprise. Now time to get dinner organised them some preparation for tomorrow's visit from the supplier of Alan's eye gaze computer. He's bringing the updated version to go over with us then popping in to Alan's school to chat with them about it.

Hopefully I'll get back later for some blip time.

Happy Hump Day Peeps :))
