An ordinary life....

Burning Bush...

This little tree outside my back door just gets more and more beautiful as the season progresses and I am sure it will be blipped again before its leaves fall completely. I think some knowledgeable blipper told me last year that it's a Winged Spindle Tree, also known as Burning Bush and it's easy to see how it got that nickname.

Exceptionally busy day today so we're all knackered. Alan had an authorised absence from school as we were having a visit from Marc who programmes Alan's eye gaze tablet. He'd been updating the programme and was coming to check it had all the info Alan needs and to check him using it.

We actually spent the bulk of the day adding more stuff to it, with me outside taking photos of the car, the garden and the road outside our house. Given that it was peeing rain I'm sure the motorists passing by as I was snapping thought I was off my chump!

After spending most of the day with us Marc headed up to Alan's school to talk to his teacher and go over it with him. The school are brilliant and so welcoming of outsiders. None of this pretending they know it all. Marc is so impressed with them.

The highlight of the day was that when Alan finally got to have a go with the technology he was highly motivated and worked it no problem. We are so proud of him. Marc has had to take it away with him to iron out a couple of small glitches in the programming but it should be back with us in a weeks time and Alan can start using it all the time.

It's also been programmed to allow us to update the content rather than have to send it back down south to be programmed. That will make it much more responsive to Alan's needs. Next step is to buy Alan a camera to take everywhere so he can record whatever he wants to include on his communication system. Happy days! :))

Just about to have dinner very late so I'll be on the Rennie's later! then hope to see what you lot have been up to.
