Primitive:- Sea Bristletail - Pterobius maritimus

Today I have a strange, somewhat primitive, even prehistoric, arthropod for you.

It is a bristletail related to the 'silverfish' and 'firebrats' that you might come across in your homes.

This one is the Shore Bristletail or Sea Bristletail (Pterobius maritimus)

I was poking around on the beach today but there wasn't much beach to poke around on as it was a very high tide.
Near the water where the ground under rocks was still wet, the prominent species was the common sand flea (Orchestia agilis or O. platensis)
Right at the top, in the driest area I found a colony of clipshears (Forficula auricularia).

In-between, hiding under large flat stones, were lots of bristletails, nearly twice the size of the sand fleas.
Like the sand fleas, they are great jumpers and also speedy runners so it was difficult to get a blip.
This is about the best achieved.
