Chiavenna

The photograph shows Chiavenna Castle about which I know nothing at all. Chiavenna is a small town close to the Swiss border and about 16 kilometres north of Lake Como. Historically the town protected the Valle Spluga.

Weather was fabulous today, and the colour of the sky is not an exaggeration. We stopped here for a light lunch, having half considered going on to St Moritz, a place I have never been. Anyway it seemed a bit too far so we returned down the east side of the lake via Lecco and Como.

Chiavenna is a nice town with old streets and some nice shops. Very close to the mountains which tower over the town, though the town itself is probably not very high up. Worth a visit.
