Lopping

Sarah came home this morning after waving Luke off to Cambridge for 4 years and then going to the dentist. She needed a project, so after a nice lunch, I set her to prune the apple trees. They were once espalier but we're already going wild when we moved here 16 years ago. It was kill or cure.. they haven't borne much fruit this year anyway, so if the worst comes to the worst, we will plant new ones. She liked using D's new loppers!
