Ever decreasing skwircles.

I know full well that "the other side of the pond" can mean both U.S.A. and its literal meaning may also imply some distance.
This time it merely denotes a section of the garden less often frequented.

On a recent trip I spotted the content of the left hand image. Removal of the plant-pot, the drain surround and the inverted shallow pot beneath revealed the centre image, and a tiny bit of uncoiling prior to snapping them off showed the right hand scene.

You can see here that is was not freshly cut down even four years ago. Also the more distant Amelanchier has proved to be no trouble at all.

There are occasions when I'm terribly tempted to leave one shoot for a while and see if it dies through lack of, or starts to manufacture chlorophyll.
