Boxing Octopus

J is felling better today. She didn't do the first dive but did the other two.

Some OK diving today. This dive site was much better with some bigger stuff around. See below

Another good sunset.

Dive 12

Isla Espritu Santo - Punta Lobos
Start time 7.48
Max depth 25.0m
Dive time 60 min
Temp 26

Morning dive on another boulder field. Not the best dive so far. The normal sort of things but no seahorse’s.
Spent most of the dive with Dora, Sally and David going off on our own. Tried to take a few photos of porcupine fish again with no luck. Did see a couple of free swimming green morays and a large one under a rock.
Dora spotted a turtle swimming off the reef.
Highlight of the dive was watching David trying to put up his SMB and then watching it come back down behind him. They then had a domestic when Sally tried to help him out for the second time.
Loads of Porcupine fish all over the reef of every size but not much else

Dive 13
Islotes
Start time 11.42
Max depth 28.0m
Dive time 61 min
Temp 27

J is back in the water for this dive. Meant to be a sea lion dive but we didn’t see one the entire dive. Went down and saw an octopus trying to hide under some rocks and then pulling the other rocks over him.
Lots more fish on this dive site and some big groupers in the current point. Saw two turtles swimming off the reef during the dive and a nice small green moray in a crevice in one of the boulders.
Saw a nice jewel moray in one of the large boulders at the beginning of the dive. Swam through the archway at the end of the dive, which was very nice. Then found a free swimming octopus that was boxing with the parrotfish that was annoying him

Best dive of the holiday so far.

Dive 14
Islotes
Start time 15.46
Max depth 12.2m
Dive time 58 min
Temp 28

Same dive site as after breakfast but this time to go shallow and see the sea lions. Only thing was that no one had told the sea lions.

Spent most of the dive around 5m.

Saw an octopus trying to wiggle its way into a hole and a nice large nudddie. Saw a couple of sea lions in the shallows but they didn’t come down.
We did find a few sea lions but they were kept in check by the very large male who was coming out and barking and blowing bubbles just in front of us.
Could have been a great dive if the sea lions had come out but not great as they didn't
