Somewhere past Pendleton, Oregon on the climb out of the valley, snow fences were evident. They are common in many areas as winter does arrive here eventually. The snow fence help to keep snow drifts off the highway. The more snow fences you see, the more snow drifts you might expect to find at the height of winter.
