A Day Worth Recording

Cooped

Happened to meet up with a colleague, Simon, at lunchtime. He, having relatively recently moved here was still exploring so we took a route I'd not been down for a while. As a consequence we came across the site of Cambourne's Second Shop.

Not quite open for business it seems. Pity; Morrison's lip service to ethical shopping extends to the occasional mediocre wine on offer and overpriced, overpackaged bananas.

Games in the evening. Ellis, Julian and Skyrider joined us. We played 7 Wonders and a previously unplayed one, Fantastiqa.

I remember my first game of 7 Wonders as confusing and unsatisfying. This replay was very much better, but those playing for the first time seemed to be having a confusing and unsatisfying time of it. Took far longer than the advertised 20 minutes.

Fantastiqa was a bit odd. We all agreed it didn't work well with three players, and suspected it was designed for four and cobbled for other numbers. Some very odd artwork - half atmospheric artistry and grand master reproductions, half PC clipart.
