Apple Day

Today was one of the best days out I can remember in a long time!
We went to Cogges in Witney for their Apple Day and it was fantastic.
We took along a bucket of apples picked from our tree this morning and turned them into apple juice. All with our own fair hands!
It was so delicious. Even more so because we'd made it!!
The Little Misses loved the whole process and helped with every stage. It's so good for them to see that things don't simply appear in tetrapaks!
There was a lovely community feel to it too - people all turning up with bags of apples, plastic bottles and demijohns; standing at tables cutting them all up and then queuing for the presses.
In the orchard there was a "throw the apples in the bucket of water" game which Miss E excelled at, winning lots of lollies, and there were sticks for bashing apples out of the trees.
It was ace. I can't wait for next year!
The farm is amazing too. Chickens, pigs, a Shetland pony, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, a fabulous adventure playground, a woodland trail with a moat and suspension bridge, loads of fallen trees to climb on, logs to jump on and off, dens to make, creepie-crawlies to find.
And lots of mud and dirt which always goes down well with the Little Misses.
And a sandpit to spend half an hour in before it was time to leave so Mummy, Daddy, Nana and Papa could enjoy well-earned tea and coffee!
Miss E went back with Nana and Papa for a sleepover. Miss L was a bit upset to be stuck with us but passed out by the time we'd gone about a mile!
She woke up when we got home for a slice of toast and a story and now is chattering away to herself in her room like a loon!
The later the better really so we don't have a 5am wake-up call tomorrow!
