Day 4 - Farewell and High Rise

Sadly J had to return to UK in the morning. I hope he will return soon with his partner Sarah who couldn't get away from work for the visit. Quick dash in the early morning fog to the airport, J clearly nervous letting me drive! :-} but as it's only 10 minutes away he didn't suffer too much.

Then set off with the Motley Crew to Lake Constance, central Europe's 3rd largest lake bordered by Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Stopped first in Bregenz, Austria, the site of the famous Bregenz Arts Festival with it's floating stage featured in the James Bond film "Quantum of Solace". We took the 2km long Pfänder Cable Car up the mountain hoping to get above the fog but just landed in a very wet, thick cloud! Had a walk around and the children tried out the play area. The animals in the wildlife park were hidden in the mist, so we had a small snack and warming coffee before descending.

After filling up with cheap(er) Austrian diesel, we went back in to Germany to the town on Lindau island for a walk around the harbour and a few shops.

Then back home for our last evening meal which Angie had prepared and had ready on our arrival. Even if the weather didn't show it's best side, day was not marred by empty batteries or car tanks and didn't need the navigation device!
