Marjorie's ramblings

I can fly!

Today has been completely full on and packed with wonderful experiences.

We started very early at the Hindu temple in the centre of Udaipur. Many people come here throughout the day and we saw the early comers who start their day with the rituals of their religion (or, as our guide would say, "Hinduism is not a religion it is a philosophy").

Then to the ghats, a short walk through the waking town. A group of men were enjoying their morning ablutions by the river and some were leaping from a low building into the water. It was very challenging to get any decent shots but I have a couple I'm pleased with.

We had time to explore the town alone before lunch. In the afternoon we saw the grounds of the palace, had a boat trip out to one of the islands. (The life jackets, from various ships around the world, were cumbersome and hot, but we had to wear them.) Then on via tuk tuks to the cable car and a stupendous view of the city after dark.

It is hard to describe how exciting this has all been.

One novelty for us is that other tourists, mainly from Gujarat, want to photograph us.............. Great fun.
