Our city

On my way home tonight, I noticed that more Christmas lights had been put up in the Square (in preparation for the switch on in a fortnight) and I wondered when they were put up. I noticed when the first ones were put up, but when did these go up? That got me thinking, what else am I missing in this place that is so familiar that I take it all for granted and miss the smaller details? Of course, as soon as I started paying more attention, I came across this plaque which I'd never seen before. It bears Wolverhampton coat of arms, featuring the city's motto "Out of darkness cometh light", which can be seen in several places around the Square. It's a shame it's now adorned with old chewing gum.
