German Dog Day

The dog days of summer are over but every day is a dog day for me. Unlike some wildlife photographers, I love meeting dogs and their owners when I am out and about.

Big panic for us this morning, our German Shepherd Dog Jazzy went missing. She is in season and we thought she might have gone in search of a mate. She doesn't wear a collar but being an Essex girl she has a tat in her ear. :) Luckily she had only gone to wish the ducks on the lake good morning unaccompanied.

After a long conversation on the phone re Mother with a man from Social Services, who seemed to like the sound of his own voice, I walked around Seventy Acres Lake.

I met a man with Tia, a beautiful, fourteen-months-old, black and white German Shorthaired Pointer. She was like a coiled spring, full of energy but quite nervous. These gun dogs have webbed feet and love to swim. Would imagine that some swimming therapy would help her temperament.

Then up trotted Diesel. He is a big cuddly German Shepherd bear of a dog, so friendly and gentle. Being male, he is much bigger than Jazzy and has a longer coat that adds to the impression of bulk. His muzzle is an unusual dusty grey and he has striking yellow eyes. Jazz would love him. :)

His master is a former murder sleuth and photographer Kevin Cull who has just returned from photographing migrating polar bears in Canada. I enjoyed talking togging to him and looking at his wonderful pics online.
