Calm after the storm

Well, the predicted storm came and it was a wild night. Not that I knew anything about it, having slept through it all, but the evidence was there in the morning when I looked out the window: wheelie bins over on their side and soggy newspaper strewn far and wide, clinging to cars, bushes, walls etc. Obviously someone had put their recycling box out, either without a cover or with a flimsy lid that got blown off in the gale, sending the newspaper contents along the street.

The radio had reports of all major bridges in Scotland closed, some roads flooded too and all trains in Scotland at a standstill. Tragically a lorry driver had been killed when his high-sided vehicle was blown over. As I drove into town later in the morning there was also evidence of several trees having been blown down, with lots of debris and flooding on the road.

In the village I also came across this casualty of the storm, which fortunately hadn't caused any damage or injury. As the bad weather travels south into England and beyond I hope all blippers and their homes remain safe.
