Another one for my hot-tub series; I think this one's my favourite so far.

M was up early for the lifeboat this morning while I gave Mum a ring and tidied up the house. M was needing to do a bit of shopping, which is quite unusual for him! We pottered into town and he bought himself a new pair of Carhartt jeans and some slightly-smarter-than-trainers-but-not-as-posh-as-work-shoes-shoes. Man shopping is so different to girl shopping! We picked up a card and a present for a couple of friends who have also got engaged recently, C and D, and after a quick lunch, headed down to Codona's for a game of pool with C, D and some of their other friends.

I lost my game but M won both of his (put it down to a year's practice on a moving oil rig), then we headed home to get ready for C and D's engagement meal. We all met up again at Tonik, a bar I've not been in since I was in 1st year of Uni! Dinner was at Saigon, a Vietnamese all-you-can-eat restaurant, which sounds awful but is actually one of my favourite places to eat in Aberdeen :o) They have this kind of odd hot-pink chicken, served in a solid bowl of noodles which I'm pretty sure was freshly cooked in 1999, which I could eat all night! Along with duck, crispy seaweed, ribs, spicy noodles, egg fried rice, spicy veggie curry and a whole range of other amazing-tasting food, we drank Vietnamese beer and had a lovely night catching up with folk. They're all M's friends really but everyone is so friendly that it doesn't matter I don't know them.

D had booked out a section of Orchid, a cocktail bar which was helpfully on our way home. He'd baked a cake for C, whose birthday was last week. It was spectacular! One of the bar staff brought it out, candles lit, and we all embarrassed C by singing happy birthday. When she cut it open, it was hollow inside and filled with sweeties! Brownie points for D. I discovered a cocktail called a Vespa, which James Bond apparently made famous, but I'd not heard of. It was delish! I wish I could have had more, but I'm running The Beast tomorrow and it didn't seem a good idea. The rest headed out to the casino, but M and I headed home to our beds. Not a good idea to stay out late when I've got a 10 k to run tomorrow!
