The only time I've ever seen a live Woodcock was in Thornley Wood, Gateshead about fifteen years ago. So this second sighting, although gruesome, is still something of an event. Quite how it reached this end I don't know. If you can bear more gruesome images, I put a few more over on iSpot to confirm the observation.

I'm not sure if the Blip Big Year accepts dead birds, but there doesn't appear to be a Woodcock on there yet.
