Food, glorious food

Today was our Secret Santa Lunch at work.

This is the day we all bring and share our presents with each other over a Jacobs join lunch.
For those who don't know what this is (I had to explain it to Mr A; he thought the Jacobs Join was a restaurant!), it's where everybody agrees to bring a specified item for the buffet and we all share.

We had a great feast today, mainly thanks to Amareen's mum who sent in a huge dish of lamb biryani plus some meat kebabs.
We also had chicken satay (courtesy of Jonathan's mum), plus all the usual nibbles like sausage rolls, cheese & onion sticks, crisps, olives, quiche & crudités.
For dessert we had home made cupcakes and a coffee & walnut cake. I took in some slices of melon & pineapple and some grapes (pitiful attempt at being healthy!!)
As usual there was loads left over; the biryani has gone home with a few staff members for their tea. The rest of the food is in the fridge for breakfast/snacks tomorrow.

Our lead nurse Nic, did a great job of setting up the table (complete with posh tablecloth & festive centrepiece) and making sure we had enough cutlery and plates for the occasion. She also tidied up after us all too (thanks Nic!).

Sadly, we all had to work again in the afternoon, which was a particular chore with full bellies; we needed a siesta!
