Still waiting...

Art and Shasta, advocates for unhoused people, several years clean and sober and formerly-unhoused themselves, continue to call on me when they want visual images of their family, their friends, and the work they're doing on the streets of Portland. I'm always happy to oblige, and I usually manage a picture or two of them while we're out. They have been expecting a baby for a long time now, having miscalculated the date of conception by several months. They now think the baby will arrive around Christmas. Like all of us who have ever awaited a birth, they worry about what the future holds, about how they will manage the change in their lives. But they are confident that they will do a better job of parenting this time than ever before.
