The Boss Keeping an Eye on Things

I manage to get John to go and have a look around the Tannery this afternoon, this was where we had a Christmas Blip met last Saturday.

The Tannery in Woolston and beside the Heathcote River is an historic waterway and industrial suburb. The Woolston Tannery was built circa 1870 from brick by Gustav Lindstrom, great-great grandfather of one of the Cassels Sons. The Cassels and Sons Brewery building stands on the banks of the Heathcote River. Prior to the arrival of the European the Heathcote River was a source of food for Maori. They called the River Opawaho and took from it fish, eels and wading birds.

Alisdair Cassels owns the old tannery site. It was his dream to restore the 20,000-square-metre site after the earthquakes. He's filled it with a collection of 50 boutique shops and bars and fashion stores, and is fully tenanted. Here is some more info on it.

John noticed Alisdair Cassels walking along looking at everything when we came out of the The Apothecary. I went into the Apothecary to ask about what to take after my operation to help the healing and she was very helpful. We enjoyed a beautiful tea she had just brewed, while we were waiting for my remedy to be made up for me.

John was impressed which is something for him!
