A Day Worth Recording

Escape?

Today was rather dominated by a round trip to Coventry and Oxford. The former to check on the house, take meter readings, and meet a (hopefully) more effective estate agent. The latter to collect 'A' to bring her back to Cambridge for the Christmas week.

Rather too many clue-free drivers out there to make it a terribly pleasant experience. Twice, stuck, along with a long trail of other cars, behind a driver doing 20mph below the limit for no apparent reason. A situation that gets increasingly dangerous when the patience of the drivers in 3rd, 6th and 10th positions runs out simultaneously.

Of course, the lead driver is completely oblivious of the danger they are putting others in. There was a time when you heard of police booking drivers for driving too slowly, for just this reason. Sadly not enough officers are able to be out on the roads these days.

Radio goes on about housing shortages and rising prices. From where I'm standing that's just, um, infuriating.

If housing is so short then why have we (or rather, our "professional salesman") failed to find even a tenant, let alone a buyer, for several months at prices significantly lower than we paid three years ago?

Pleasingly, the boys had got the lights up by the time we got home. Think this is the first time I've not had to put any up.
