But, then again . . . . .

Little Donkeys.

For a few weeks now, the flower emporium has been host to these two refugees, Freda and Felix, from The Borders Donkey Sanctuary. It’s a mutual back-scratching exercise, the emporium attracts visitors while the sanctuary raises funds.

For a few weeks now, these two beasts have stood around looking thoroughly hacked off, heads down and, apparently not interested in any animal/human relationship and positively objecting to being scratched behind their ears. We were told that they perked up when they were taken to their temporary paddock, but when we saw them being led away their noses were virtually dragging along the ground. We were reminded of Eeyore in his gloomy corner when it wasn’t his birthday - as it usually wasn’t. I suppose I'd be fed up if all I had to eat was dry hay.

The human visitors seemed to be cheerful enough so, presumably, neither condition was contagious.
